Simply Japanese ("the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This notice describes what information the App handles and how.
Summary
Simply Japanese does not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. The App works primarily offline and does not require an account. Any data stored on your device stays on your device.
Information Stored on Your Device
The App stores a small amount of data locally on your device to improve your experience:

This data is stored only on your device. It is not transmitted to our servers or any third party.
Information We Do Not Collect
- No personal information – We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any other identifying information.
- No usage analytics – We do not track how you use the App, which screens you view, or how long you spend in the App.
- No location data – We do not collect or use your location.
- No advertising identifiers – The App does not serve ads and does not use advertising or tracking IDs.
In-App Purchases
If you choose to support the App through an optional in-app purchase:
- Payment processing – All payments are handled by Apple (iOS) or Google (Android). We do not receive, store, or have access to your payment details.
- Purchase confirmation – The App stores only a local flag indicating that you have made a support purchase, so we do not show the support prompt again. This stays on your device.
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Apple App Store / Google Play – For app distribution and in-app purchase processing. Their privacy policies apply to those transactions.
- Device text-to-speech – For pronunciation, the App uses your device's built-in speech engine. No audio is sent to external servers.
We do not use analytics, crash reporting, or other third-party SDKs that collect user data.
Data Retention
Because we do not collect personal data, there is nothing to retain. Any local data on your device (theme preference, support status) is deleted when you uninstall the App.
Children's Privacy
Simply Japanese does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. The App is designed for general audiences and does not require an account or personal information.
Changes to This Notice
We may update this privacy notice from time to time. We will post the updated notice in the App and/or at https://aiah.us/simply_japanese/privacy_notice. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated notice.
